Girls' team takes fifth at Royal City

Lake Roosevelt’s girls wrestling team competed Saturday at the Royal Lady Knights Invitational in Royal City, taking fifth in a field of 14 teams with 98 points.

“Our goal for the week was to be tough in the neutral position and to create pressure to create opportunities,” commented Coach Justus Caudell. “I felt we did that very well.”

Phenyx Marchand took first in the 155-pound bracket, pinnng her Chiawana opponent in 23 seconds.

AJ Cannon also took a first place for LR, winning in a 6-5 decision over her Rogers High School opponent from Spokane in the 170 weight class.

Sienna Atchison took second place at 145.

Cora Nicholson took sixth at 125.

Also wrestling were Nelly Selam (105), Arianna Waters (140),  Antya George-Cawston (145), Jahzara Simpson (190), and Recelia Louis (235).

Waters and Louis both injured defaulted out of the tournament.
