Amazing teamwork

Letters from our readers

The picture of the LRHS Boys’ Basketball Team (in color) on the cover of The Star newspaper last week was amazing! They have been exciting to watch all season and this picture captured the joy and fun they’ve shown. So much class and poise in these young men on this Raider team … very special.

Coach Adkins and her Raider cheer squad and Leadership class did numerous things throughout the entire season to support the team. The Head Cheer coach also collaborated with the Brewster Band Director. It started as a gesture of good sportsmanship with them playing the LR Fight Song at the Brewster game in Brewster. Then the director offered to stay late after the Bears’ game and play for the Raiders pregame during District play. At State, the Director offered again to play for the Raider games. Often there were many hours between LR and Brewster games, but the offer stood and the Bears played. Even when Brewster was done at the state tournament they stayed at the arena and played for the Raiders third-place win.

There are tons of adults and students that make the Raider Nation so impressive. I’m proud of all who are involved in making it so.

On another note, I’m proud of the teamwork involved from those who continue to push to unify appropriate critical services that our small towns do separately now. Over the years Scott Hunter, Nic Alexander, Ryan Fish and many others have strived for more efficient and effective solutions. As the cover of The Star states each week – We’re all in this together!

This season’s Raider Boys’ Basketball team made it look easy, but they’ve been busting their tails for years. Our communities need to work together with an unwavering teamwork mindset and the results will also be impressive!

In appreciation,

John M. Adkins
