Spring clean-up dates are set

April 20 last day for self-hauled yard waste

The annual Spring Clean-up dates have been set for the weeks of April 8th and 15th.

Self-hauled yard waste (bagged or unbagged) will be accepted both weeks at Delano Transfer Station during the dump’s regular hours: Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge, but residents still need to weigh their loads in and out so staff can track the weight.

Three of the local towns will go house to house for limb chipping, with varying schedules.

Electric City’s chipping dates are April 8-12. City staff will also pick up bagged yard waste during the second week, April 15-19, from residents who do not self-haul.

Limbs must be no bigger than 7 inches diameter and no longer than 8 feet, and must be placed in the front yard with the butt end going with the flow of traffic, for efficient chipping. One pickup truck load of limbs per household.

Grand Coulee will carry out their house-to-house chipping operation during the week of April 15-19. Same protocol as Electric City applies, though Grand Coulee staff will not be hauling yard waste, according to Mayor Mike Eylar.

Coulee Dam will bring their chipper around to town residents the week of April 15-19. Coulee Dam staff does not haul yard waste; residents must self-haul to Delano.

Elmer City does not provide chipping or hauling, but allows open burning, as an Okanogan County municipality. Residents can also self-haul yard waste to Delano during regular hours both weeks.

Spring Clean-up affords residents the chance to clear out yard waste and limbs at no charge. The Regional Board of Mayors provides the annual service through a grant.
