It was her personal-best javelin throw of 109-10, more than 20 feet better than her qualifying throw the week before, and 3 feet, 3 inches better than her previous record.

Five Raiders will compete at the 2024 WIAA 1B - 2B - 1A Track & Field Championships in Yakima May 23-25 after their team won the North Central 2B League Championship May 7, then qualified for state at the District 6 Championships in Brewster last Thursday.
Lake Roosevelt junior John Cooley took first in Brewster in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.69 seconds. Cooley also took second in the 110m hurdles in 16.09, third in the triple jump at 37 feet, 5.575 inches, and sixth in javelin with a 116-foot throw.
At state, Cooley will compete in the 110m and 300m hurdles and in the triple jump.
Senior Carly Neddo tossed the javelin a personal-record 109-10 to take third in the District 6 Championship and qualify for state, where she will compete in both the javelin and discus. At Brewster, she also took third in the discus with a toss of 99-03.25.
Raeley Portch's third place in the girls' 300m hurdles (54.65) sends her to Yakima to represent the Raiders. The senior took fourth in the same event at the league meet in Oroville but was the league champion of the 100m hurdles there.
Caden Portch took third place at the district championship in the 1600-meter run in 4:58.68. The sophomore will compete at state in both the 1600 and in the 3200, in which he took fourth in Brewster in 11:29.28 - after running the 1600 and the 800.
Freshman Terrell Bush's fourth-place long jump of 18-2 earned him an alternate spot in the Yakima roster for that event.
Two more Raiders qualified at the league meet to compete in the district meet in Brewster. Madelynn Carman, a sophomore, competed in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter races, the discus, and in long jump. Freshman Nelly Selam ran in the 800-, 1600-, and 3200-meter races.
