6/30 - Police assisted the state park service by responding to a report of a possible dead body near the Northrup Point boat launch. After speaking to one of two people who had reported the incident, police learned that she and her significant other had gone there to go fishing and someone was parked where they usually parked. There wasn’t an explanation in the report as to how that led to a possible dead body being reported.
7/1 - An Electric City resident reported losing keys to a Toyota Forerunner in recent weeks, but said she had an extra set of keys. Police said they would notify her if lost keys were turned in.
- Police responded to Grand Avenue in Electric City where a woman reportedly was yelling for help. The door was open and police went inside where a woman said she had been yelling for her husband. There was no one else at the residence. She said she didn’t need any medical attention. Police then left.
- Police were informed that a man wanted on arrest warrants out of Okanogan County was walking on the Columbia River Bridge in Coulee Dam. Police arrested him on Columbia Avenue and took him to the Okanogan County Jail.
7/2 - Police were asked to ban a woman from a Birch Street residence, then learned that she had already been banned from that residence earlier in the year.
7/3 - A door to an enclosed pathway had signs of forced entry at a Spruce Street church in Coulee Dam. There were no signs of forced entry into the building. A cabinet door was open inside. Police felt the cabinet door simply could have been left open and saw no other signs of foul play. Police told the reporting party they would patrol the area for suspicious activity.
- An officer went to the area of Nucoulee Boulevard and Spokane Boulevard in Grand Coulee where smoke was reported. The location is close to Electric City. Fire departments arrived at the same time as police. There was no danger to Electric City residents and the officer left the scene.
7/4 - A Stevens Avenue resident of Electric City reported a suspicious vehicle in their driveway and that they had received a phone call with the person saying something to the effect of “we are outside.” The person believed it could have been some males that had been “chasing the females around the area,” prior to the call. The caller said they wouldn’t be able to identify the suspects. Police patrolled the area and didn’t see anything further that was suspicious.
- Police anticipated getting multiple fireworks calls for Independence Day and did receive multiple. On Birch Street a plastic garbage can had smoke coming out of it, and smoldering fireworks had apparently caught a piece of cardboard on fire. The fire department put the fire out. The next evening, police responded to a fireworks report on Electric Boulevard, where a firework detonated from the launching tube as the officer arrived, with fragments hitting the police car. The resident was told that fireworks weren’t allowed in Electric City past midnight on the July 4. The resident said he would stop lighting them off.
7/5 - Near Fifth Street and Sunny Drive someone reported hearing people say, “Just shoot him!” Police saw a group of people who said that a dog was loose and someone said to just shoot it. Police confirmed that there was a loose dog. There was no further issue.
- Police responded to a report of a man with possible mental health issues trespassing on Sunbanks Lake Resort property, hanging out in an abandoned shed. Police spoke to the man, whom they recognized, and told him he couldn’t be there. The man asked, “What if I buy the property?” The officer said that would be a different situation. The man was told he would be cited for criminal trespassing if he returned.
7/6 - A tribal officer asked a Coulee Dam officer if he should kick in the door of a building on Roosevelt Way in Coulee Dam that had been broken into. The Coulee Dam officer answered that it was a building owned by the tribe and he’d let him make that call. The tribal officer was instructed by a supervisor just to secure the building, the former Coulee House Motel.
- A vehicle was pulled over near Wenatchee Avenue and Spokane Boulevard in Grand Coulee by a Grand Coulee officer. The officer requested assistance as the driver of the vehicle was moving around a lot in the vehicle, creating a possible security risk. The driver left the area as the vehicle was to be impounded, and the Grand Coulee officer was requesting a search warrant on the vehicle because of found drug paraphernalia. The Grand Coulee officer later told the Coulee Dam officer that he had probable cause to arrest the driver for illegal possession of a firearm as well as possession of drugs with intent to deliver. Coulee Dam officers assisted in searching for the man with no luck.
7/7 - There was a loud party complaint on SR-155 near milepost seven. No further details on the possible party or what happened were included in the report.
- A suspicious person was reportedly pulling a wagon and walking in the area of State Street and Kelso Avenue, possibly taking items from people’s yards. Police were unable to identify the man from security footage but were unable to locate him in the area.
- Electric City residents requested that their son and daughter-in-law be banned from their property but said they would be allowed to collect their belongings.
