Kathy R. Rose (Jiles) was born on April 19, 1955, in Coulee Dam, WA. She passed away at the age of 69, on August 8, 2024, in Brewster, WA, after an extended battle with cancer.
Kate completed her education in Coulee Dam, attending both primary and high school in the area she would call home. She married the love of her life, Gary Rose, in 1972, making their home in Grand Coulee, WA. She was the beloved co-owner and operator of the R&A Cafe in Coulee Dam, WA, in the 1980's. Her career was not just a job but a passion, as she poured her heart into the café, making it a welcoming spot for the community.
In the late 1990s, Kate and her husband, Gary, moved to Louisiana, until his passing in 2018. Kate moved back to Grand Coulee, WA in 2020.
Beyond her professional life, Kate had a vibrant personal life characterized by her love for reading, solving puzzles, caregiving, and visiting with friends. She shared countless joyful moments filled with laughter with her best friend and sister-in-law, Twyla LaGrange, who was also one of her caregivers in her later years.
Kate is survived by her niece, Kyona Cavadini; best friend and sister-in-law, Twyla LaGrange; and close family friend and caregiver, Esther DeRusha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Rose; parents, Fred and Natalie Jiles; brothers: Fred Jiles and Jon Jiles; and her niece, Jordana Jiles.
Respecting Kate's wishes, there will be no memorial service. She always advocated for important causes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to cancer or Parkinson's research organizations. Kate's legacy will live on not only through her contributions to her community but also through the memories she leaves with her loved ones.
