Police
8/28 - Police were asked to check on the welfare of a Central Drive man and learned he had gone to the local hospital and then to Spokane. Police relayed that information to the concerned person.
- A report was filed related to a burglary on Miller Avenue in Electric City but further details on the circumstances were not included in the report.
- An officer counted over 30 dogs at a Coulee Boulevard residence. The officer was unable to reach the owner at the time, but left 11 citations for her. The ongoing issue hasn’t changed despite her receiving 26 citations for violating the city code on how many dogs someone can have (no more than four).
- A driver was ticketed for going 48 miles per hour in the 35 zone near Coulee Boulevard and Stevens Avenue in Electric City. The driver said he had seen a 50 mph sign and thought that he was going the speed limit.
8/30 - A loud party was reported in the Ferry Avenue area where an intoxicated person was walking to their car near city hall. Police found a man in the passenger seat of a vehicle with no intention to drive and simply sleeping off the alcohol.
- Police removed a dead deer from the roadway on River Drive.
8/31 - Shots were reported near Hillcrest Avenue in Electric City. No further details were included in the report.
- Someone complained about loud music near Coulee Playland. Because it was before midnight, police waited to see if there were any further complaints after the time when the music was permissible. No further complaints were made.
Grand Coulee Police
8/22 - Police responded to a report of an assault at the Hill Avenue apartments, where a woman told police she no longer wanted law enforcement involved and explained that “bigger kids” had been harassing her son.
- Police spoke to a boy who had been riding his bike between Electric City and Grand Coulee when, he said, an elderly woman in a purple minivan harassed him, telling him he shouldn’t be riding his bike there, attempted to take his bike and to slap him. He said he blocked her before pushing her away from him. Police were unable to locate the woman.
- A woman reported hearing two gunshots while walking near North Dam Park. She also mentioned seeing a group of people in the area. Police checked the area and didn’t find anything suspicious.
8/23 - An officer assisted Coulee Dam Police in responding to a threat being made at Coulee Playland, where a suspect allegedly threatened to shoot someone with a shotgun. Once it was established that there was no weapon present, the Grand Coulee officer left the scene.
- A man police knew was wanted on a felony warrant was pulled over near Federal Avenue and Midway Avenue. He complied with an order to get out of the vehicle and was taken to Okanogan County Jail. The passenger was wanted on misdemeanor warrants out of Lincoln and Grant County and also complied with getting out of the vehicle and being arrested. The report doesn’t note if she was taken to jail on her warrants. After a search warrant was obtained, what appeared to be meth and a pipe were found inside the vehicle, which was eventually towed.
8/24 - At the request of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, an officer responded to the campground at Spring Canyon where people were reportedly tending to fires while there is a burn ban in effect prohibiting open flames. One camp group had been using a grill to cook but was finished using it and cooperative with putting it out. Another group had a propane fire device they were using as a campfire and agreed to extinguish it, although a woman politely expressed her dissatisfaction with the rule.
8/26 - Police checked on the welfare of a Main Street juvenile and a college-age young man at the request of a relative that was concerned their mother was kicking them out. Police were able to learn the juvenile was staying at a friend’s house for the night and was fine, and the young man had gone for a walk to get some food. He was fine. Police talked to the mother about the process of formally evicting her son, who is going back to college in a few weeks, if that is what she wanted to do. The mother then talked about a lot of unrelated topics with the officer, who felt like she needed someone to talk to.
- A Moses Lake couple had been at the casino. The man had consumed a large amount of alcohol, which led to an argument. The woman originally reported that he had thrown coffee on her, but it turned out the man had spilled coffee on himself. No crime was committed and the pair agreed to keep from arguing on the rest of their ride home.
- A resident complained of a vehicle blocking their driveway near Alcan Road and Yakima Street. The vehicle had moved before police arrived.
8/27 - At about 1:30 in the morning, a suspicious Jeep was reported seen in the Washington Flats area, which is closed after dark. Police searched the area, didn’t see anything and surmised that it must have already left the area.
- A man known to have paranoid schizophrenia had spray painted an electrical box on the side of the Coulee Wall Variety Store. Because of his condition, he won’t be charged for the graffiti.
- A door was kicked in at a vacant Federal Avenue apartment. It was not known if anything was taken as several items were still there from the previous tenant who had left the state and wasn’t coming back for any items.
8/29 - A Hill Avenue man reported his girlfriend as missing. He said that she had gone to Safeway a couple of days prior to get medications but hadn’t come back. He said that she doesn’t have her cell phone because it is broken. He also described an instance in recent weeks in which a man in a blue truck he had noticed driving around had tried to lure her into the truck, then grabbed her collar, but she had been able to get away. He also said that he has been in contact with her family and no one had heard from her. Police collected a photo of her and entered her as a missing person.
