Chance to win new car supports RTD’s local efforts
This Saturday’s Swing for the Good Charity Scramble at Banks Lake Golf Course will help the cause of developing a new park in Electric City.
The event, sponsored by Jess Ford and the Columbia Basin Foundation offers teams of four a fun tournament Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
The $400 registration fee for the foursome includes green fees, cart fees, lunch, goodie bags, and prizes — plus that chance to win a new vehicle.
Run the Dam, the local non-profit that puts on the annual Run the Dam race coming up on Sept. 21, will get the proceeds from the golf tournament, organizers said.
The Run the Dam organization has taken on the challenge of helping to develop Electric City’s long-sought new park. Director Kelly Buche says proceeds from the charity scramble will benefit that effort.
“Run the Dam serves, in an advisory capacity, to the Electric City Park Committee, a City-funded, resident-organized group committed to build a city park,” a statement on the RTD website says. “RTD is working toward raising funds to install a PARCOURSE in the park for the community to enjoy.”
The check-in for the golf scramble starts at 10 a.m., with the shotgun start set for 11. Those wanting to register can email marketing@jessford.com.
