Grand Coulee Police

9/23 - A complaint was filed on a Fortuyn Road property that is licensed as a “junk yard” but not for accumulating general trash and refuse. Police spoke with the property owner who was cooperative, had already been told about the complaint, and was working on the issue by ordering a dumpster through the city that would be arriving in the coming weeks.

9/26 - Police went to the Delano Regional Transfer Station where someone had damaged the fence and trespassed into the yard, an employee said. Two batteries were stolen from a semi-truck, wires were cut, and support brackets for the batteries were damaged, totaling about $1,500 in damages. The front passenger window of a pickup was also broken, although nothing appeared taken, and damage to that was estimated at $1,500, as well. Due to the semi being inoperable, the station wouldn’t be able to operate that day and any income that would have brought in from running was a loss, as well.

9/28 - A man was cited and released for speeding, driving while his license was suspended, and for not having insurance after being stopped on SR-155 near the turn for Crescent Bay.

9/23 - A report was filed for a non-injury traffic accident on River Drive but didn’t include details as to the nature of the accident.

9/25 - A witness heard a loud bang then saw that a car had struck a telephone pole near Stevens and Crest Avenues in Electric City. The witness was putting shoes on to go check on the situation and then saw a woman leaving the scene on foot. The witness also said he knew the woman had been at the local bar and presumed that intoxication is why she left the vehicle there. Police saw the vehicle, an Acura, parked near the pole and ran the plates to see who it was registered to. The car seemed to have hit the pole with the front bumper in the center, dislodging the bumper from its factory position. A tow company was called to remove it as it was partially blocking Stevens Avenue.

9/26 - Police were unable to locate two loose dogs reported to be running around on Roosevelt Avenue in Electric City.

9/27 - Police spoke to a man who had parked his vehicle on the sidewalk and close to the door of the bowling alley in Coulee Dam. He was told it wasn’t acceptable. He said wouldn’t park there anymore.

- A woman was cited for driving under the influence after showing a blood alcohol content at the police station of around 0.20, over the 0.08 legal driving limit. The woman appeared to have scratched a parked car on 4th Avenue in Electric City where police first spoke to her, with the scratch only being a few millimeters in length and not causing any dentage in the process. She was given a ride to her home in Electric City after going through the breath alcohol content test at the station in Coulee Dam.

9/28 - A Grand Coulee woman allowed a man to take her car to a Roosevelt Avenue address in Electric City in order to work on it. After a couple of months, the woman attempted to get the car back and was told the man’s brother had the key and potentially lost it. Police attempted to talk to the brother in Grand Coulee but were unable to talk to him. The woman said she’d be trying to get her car back, which police said was fine since it was her car. The said to contact them if she needed help getting it back.
