Scouts help at
senior center dinner
The Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center held its member appreciation dinner recently, where steelhead trout was donated by Pacific Seafood, and the “Grand Coulee Boy Scout Troop were rock stars and served over 65 meals!” noted Edna Hauser on the Grand Coulee Area Community Announcement Board on Facebook. “We could not have done it without them and are GRATEFUL for their help.” She said the event was an enjoyable evening for all.
PUD changing
rate strategy
Grant PUD commissioners gave their unofficial endorsement, meeting Sept. 24, to a more equitable way of setting electric rates.
Their verbal nod follows months of discussion and upholds the utility’s longstanding policy of ensuring its “core customers” — residential, ag and small businesses — continue to receive their power at below-cost, noted PUD spokesperson Christin Pratt in an email.
A vote should come later this year to make the new rate strategy official.
Public hearings for the PUD’s 2025 budget are fast approaching — Tuesday, Oct. 8.
All are welcome to attend, in person or remotely, to learn about and weigh in on how Grant PUD plans to spend $367.8 million next year.
County burn ban
still in effect
The Okanogan Countywide Burn Ban is still in effect and prohibits all outdoor burning, including campfires, an email from the county’s emergency management folks said Sept. 24.
