Soccer

The LR soccer team scored two wins in a row last week, including their first shutout.

That was at home on Thursday, Oct. 10, when they won against Manson 5-0.

"Goalies Taylor Thomas and Cora Nicholson share credit for LR's first shutout of the season," said Coach Solveig Chaffee.

Shae Crollard scored three goals, "giving her a team-leading 14 on the season," Chaffee noted. "Nautika Brown and Halle Picard contributed one goal each. Kenzie Brown had an assist and Phenyx Marchand had three assists to add to her team-leading total of seven thus far this season."

That was just two days after the Lady Raiders' 9-2 win over Oroville.

Team Captain Nautika Brown and forward Shae Crollard contributed four goals apiece, and Kenzie Brown scored her first goal of the season.

Chaffee said the match "showcased an organized and well-rounded attack," with assists by six different players. Phenyx Marchand had two assists, while Taylor Thomas, Halle Picard, Kenzie Brown, Nautika Brown and Taloulah Tonasket contributed one each.

The wins came after a couple character-building losses, the first at Bridgeport Oct. 3.

"Despite a flurry of shots on goal contributed by seven different LR players, they were unable to generate enough offense and fell 4-2," Chaffee said.

And a couple days later the Raiders held their own with strong defense for the first half against the fifth-ranked team in the state Oct. 5.

Neither the Raiders nor the Davenport Gorillas scored by the half, but Davenport eventually prevailed 4-0.

LR will host Pateros in Grand Coulee on Thursday at 4:30. They play in Manson on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m.

The team's last game will be in Tonasket, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Lake Roosevelt lost 3-0 to Tonasket, there, Oct. 10, then to Brewster at home last night by the same count.

LR will play Bridgeport at their middle school Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
