The Raiders traveled all the way to Liberty Bell High School at Winthrop just to get schooled 57-6 by the Mountain Lions Friday.

Despite the loss, senior Ivan Alejandre had a solid game, connecting on 13 of 25 passes for 202 yards gained and rushing for 38 yards, including the touchdown, earning him LR’s player of the game honor.

The Raiders play for their homecoming and senior night Friday against Tonasket at 7 p.m. in their last home game. For their season’s final game, they’ll head to Okanogan for a 7 p.m. contest Nov. 1.

Volleyball

Lake Roosevelt beat Bridgeport in three sets Thursday in Bridgeport, but then lost 3-0 to Tonasket at home last night. The Lady Raiders (1-5, 3-12) will play The Lady Tigers (4-2, 13-4) again Saturday in Tonasket at 1 p.m. for their final game of the season.

Soccer

LR fought hard against two conference opponents but ultimately fell to Liberty Bell 2-1 Oct. 15 and to Pateros 3-1 two days later.

The match in Liberty Bell featured an excellent one-touch goal by Halle Picard assisted by a long throw in by Kenzie Brown, Coach Solveig Chafee said.

Captain and senior goalie Taylor Thomas kept the Raiders in the match by saving a penalty shot by Liberty Bell’s biggest scoring threat, Marit Nelson.

Containment of Nelson was assigned to standout eighth-grader Cambry Brown who man marked Nelson the entire 80-minute game, limiting her touches and shots and keeping the Raiders within reach of the win.

The Raiders’ last home effort, against Pateros, featured a goal by Captain and senior Nautika Brown in her last home game of a stellar five-year Raider soccer career. Her leadership and presence on the field will be sorely missed next year.

Chaffee recognized the growth and potential of “a young but committed team featuring five first-year players who earned starting spots all season: Claire Nicholson (8), Paisley Fury-Smith (8), Cambry Brown (8), Taloulah Tonasket (9), and Shae Crollard (9). “

She said major credit for strength and growth of the defensive unit goes to the veteran leadership of Cora Nicholson, who ably played goalie, outside back and midfield while teaching and encouraging the young group.

The Raiders ended their season away at Tonasket last night with a 6-0 loss for a 2-6 in-league record, 3-11 overall.
