Raiders win homecoming game

With their season about to wrap up, the Raiders grabbed a football win on the Lake Roosevelt field for their homecoming game Friday.

They beat the Tonasket Tigers 40-35, boosting the Raider win-loss to 1-6.

"I'm always proud of our players, but this week our team built on the value of personal sacrifice," said Head Coach Geary Oliver. "Our defensive line was asked to play a technique which would result in no personal accolades. However, it would give us our best chance to win the game. It was a great example of teamwork and was the difference-maker in our victory."

The Raiders led 14-6 through much of the first half, but went to the locker room tied at 14 each.

The Tigers led by a point briefly 35-34 in the fourth quarter until LR scored to seal the win.

Ivan Alejandre, Terrell Bush, Champ Louie, and Elijah Broadnax led the team in defensive stats, Oliver said. Alejandre, Bush and Anthony Smith led on offense.

Broadnax gets credit for two sacks and 5.5 tackles. Louie made seven tackles. Alejandre made 4.5 tackles, returned a kickoff 44 yards, and a punt 46 yards. Bush and Smith brought down four Tigers each.

At quarterback, Alejandre completed eight of 15 passes for 156 yards, including two touchdowns and a 45-yarder. He gained 61 yards in nine carries, including a TD, almost half of that in one rush.

Bush rushed for 242 yards in 12 carries, with three TDs.

With six receptions, Smith gained 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Roosevelt's volleyball team ended their season in Tonasket Saturday in the first game of the CWB Volleyball Tournament in a loser-out postseason game. They lost in three sets.
