News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area
Christmas is eight weeks away! Trees of Sharing 2024 is beginning now so we’ll be ready to give a hand up to families by providing a Christmas gift for their children. Since the early 1980’s, the Trees of Sharing program has been a pathway for Grand Coulee Dam Area residents to be a blessing to needy local children.
If you are a parent or guardian in a family or know a family with children under age 18 living in the Coulee as far north as Belvedere that could use the encouragement of having Christmas gifts provided, please fill out Trees of Sharing slips for each of their children. Slips and collection boxes are located at Safeway Pharmacy, Coulee Family Medicine, and Harvest Foods. (Note: Please do not let children complete the slips. School-age children must be enrolled in the Grand Coulee Dam School District to be eligible.) The names will be coded, put on ornament tags, and available the week before Thanksgiving for those who want to fulfill the wishes of one or more children.
The schedule:
• November 4 – November 15: Children’s names may be submitted on ‘need/wish’ slips and placed in decorated collection boxes at Safeway Pharmacy, Coulee Medical Center, or Harvest Foods.
• November 21 – December 13: Trees decorated with ornament tags with children’s wishes will be available at North Cascades Bank, Safeway Pharmacy, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, and Harvest Foods. Please pick up a tag & fill the wish.
• Monday, December 16: (Very important date!) All gifts, wrapped and with tags attached to the outside of the package, need to be returned to a ‘Tree’ location so they can be organized for delivery.
• Saturday, December 21, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.: Trees of Sharing delivery of gifts
Please call to leave a message, including your phone number with Linda Black, 509-431-7587, to join the volunteer Trees of Sharing team. Opportunities exist to organize, shop, wrap, and deliver gifts.
