Two people were taken to hospital following an incident in which a 17-year-old had reportedly slashed two people with a knife at a party early Sunday morning.
Coulee Dam Police responded to a Grand Coulee residence after overhearing a Grant County dispatcher call out a county sheriff’s deputy to the scene of a large fight about 2:15 a.m. at 213 Second Street.
A Coulee Dam Officer responded after asking if the Grant County Sheriff’s Office wanted the assistance. On the way to the active scene he called another Coulee Dam officer for help.
When Officer Edmond Fenton arrived, several people were in the street in front of the house. After Officer Ponusky joined him, they detained the 17-year-old in handcuffs.
He and two alleged victims were eventually all taken to Coulee Medical Center about two blocks away.
Fenton had the remaining partygoers gather in the back yard to await two Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who arrived later to take over the investigation.
GCSO issued a summarizing statement Tuesday on Facebook. Most of the partygoers had left by the time police arrived, but the suspect returned, armed himself with a kitchen knife and swung it at a 22-year-old woman, lacerating the back of her head deeply, the statement says. He then confronted a 20-year-old man in a similar way, lacerating his chest, it says.
At that point, other partygoers restrained him.
EMTs treated the victims.
The suspect was taken to the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of first-degree assault and first-degree harassment.
