Come to town hall meeting, then vote yes

I am writing to encourage each of our community to vote YES for the upcoming school levy. This levy replaces an already existing levy that will expire at the end of the calendar year 2025. I think we can all agree that our school is not fully funded by the State, and passing this levy helps support the schools by ensuring that they have the staffing, special education programs, athletics, advanced courses, extracurricular activities, transportation, food service and building maintenance that it needs to operate and function.

If this levy is passed, the State will give our school district an additional $700,000. That is money on the table that won’t be there if this levy does not pass. It is critical to the kids in our area, who depend on us to ensure that they have the education they need. Our children are our future, they are the change in society that we all always talk about needing. An investment in them is an investment in all of us.

I encourage each of you to come to the town hall meeting on January 30, 2025, at 6pm in the High School Hub so that you can learn more about this levy and why it is so important, and that each of you vote YES on February 11, 2025. This town hall is something new that I don’t believe they have done before.

Come hear the facts of the levy straight from the school. I’ve heard a lot of naysayers of the levy before complaining about how the school has always been and how they don’t communicate – this town hall is a sign that things are changing at LR and for the better. Now is the time to put past stuff into the past and support our school district moving forward. It is the only school district we have, and so many kids depend on it.

Respectfully,

Amanda Burton
