Protesters are uninformed

The protesters are very uninformed or very shortsighted. The United States is in financial trouble, Democrat and Republican Administrations have spent Taxpayers money like it grows on trees. We are $36.2 trillion dollars in debt. At this date we are 124% in debt compared to United States Gross domestic product. To put this in plain terms if all the products made, manufactured were taken by the government they would still be 24% short. What would happen if the creditors demanded their money? The United States would go bankrupt. In that case everything would collapse. No Medicare, no Social Security, banks close, the government collapse it would be worse than the great depression of the 1920s. It is thought if the United States collapses the whole Western Hemisphere would also collapse. Our government must pay down the defect.

Just to give you an example of what DOGE is finding of the fraud and waste of our taxpayer’s dollars. Social Security preliminary investigation there are 21 million people over 100, 1041 people over 220, and one person over 360 still getting Social Security checks. Over 19 million deaths not recorded, $100 billion improper payments made in 2023. This is why the SS will be broken by 2034. DOGE has found $51 billion dollars of waste and fraud in one month and just getting started. President Clinton along with House Speaker Newt Gingrich is the only President that balanced the budget, and he did for 2 years. He also fired 377,000 Federal government workers, cut millions from the federal budget.

Editor’s note: The writer cites incorrect information that Elon Musk shared on his social media site called X this week. What the head of DOGE may not have realized is that the Social Security statistics he shared had already been addressed by the Social Security Administration’s inspector general in a 2023 report. Most of those people over 100 are not receiving Social Security benefits, but they died before records were stored in modern digital format. Basically, the SSA decided it would waste more money to try to digitize or update all their records than to just include a footnote: https://oig.ssa.gov/assets/uploads/a-06-21-51022.pdf

Additionally, the reported $51 billion in savings is, still substantially, more like $2 billion, an NPR investigation found after uncovering errors and misunderstandings: https://www.npr.org/2025/02/19/nx-s1-5302705/doge-overstates-savings-federal-contracts
