It's on to state after Raiders take second in District

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders took second place in District 5 Saturday in Moses Lake and will head into the first round of the state 2B basketball tournament in a game against last year’s state champion March 1 in Cheney.

The Coyotes, of Burbank’s Columbia High School, bested the Raiders 63-48 in the 2025 District 5 2B Boys Basketball Tournament championship game at Moses Lake High School.

At the half, LR had just taken the lead when a Coyote hit a three at the buzzer from way downtown.

The fifth-seeded Raiders will play number-four Colfax at Cheney High School Saturday night at 8.

A win would send LR to a March 6 quarterfinal game at 9 a.m. at the Spokane Arena. A loss would mean they’d play there March 5 in a loser-out “Round of 12,” with a win still opening a three-game route to the state championship.
