LR boys take eighth in state wrestling

Five Raider boys stepped up on the podium at the state wrestling tournament last weekend to claim a place on the winners' list, and three more were just one match away from placing at the Mat Classic XXXVI tournament in the Tacoma Dome.

"Every wrestler battled and competed hard, not giving up," Head Coach Casey Brewster said on the team Facebook. "So proud of all these boys and how they rose to the challenge this season."

As a team, the Raiders placed eighth in the state.

Rodger Cate took second place at 113 pounds.

Collin Christman took fifth place at 106, and Jack Steffler took sixth.

Kaden Christman took fifth place at 120.

And Colin Chaney took eighth place at 150.

Dillan Yazzie, Ike Circle, and Blake Chuckelnaskit each were just one match away from placing in the top eight, Brewster said.
